Rolling Hawk Dive

by famoushorse101 & Seabiscuit     age  9

Lindsay was grooming her  mount, Sea Eagle, when she heard the crunching of the truck and trailer’s  wheel coming down the long drive way to the barn’s entrance.  I didn’t know we were getting a  new horse! She thought to herself, feeling a little disappointed.  She was early for her lesson at  Seashore Stable anyway, so she decided to go out to see if they needed any  help unloading this new horse of theirs.

She saw pure black flank and tail  coming out of the trailer.   The shoulder and Head came a few seconds later.  When the full body emerged, she  gasped for air.  There,  standing in the middle of the dusty courtyard, was the most beautiful  horse she had ever seen.

She  trotted over to Hope, the advanced rider’s instructor.  “Who is this, and why did you not  tell me we were getting a new Horse??”  Lindsay asked, wondering if it was  a new school horse, and whether she would be able to ride him or not.

“Not we, you.”  Hope said, beaming.

“This was my Dad’s birthday  present for me???”  She  replied in awe.

Hope nodded,  sensing her excitement, and Lindsay calmly walked to the horse’s head,  making sure he wasn't wild, or full of mischief.  Seeing that he was not, she gently  stroked his long, glossy black coat.

“Will he be my mount for today’s lesson??”  She said, turning to Hope.  Hope nodded.  Chad, one  of the grooms offered to tack him up for her, but she politely  refused.  She wanted to get to  know him.  She had him in the  ring in no time, for he didn't mind saddle or girth or bit.  She had decided to name him  Rolling Hawk Dive, for his sire’s name was Rolling Hills.

The name suited him well, because,  He was tall, and, when he came to the landing of a jump, he would plunge  in his graceful way.  Hawk, as  she had decided to nickname him, was a young Quarter Horse, from the  auction of old Gelding Goodness Horses, an out of business barn down the  lane.

She mounted up for their first lesson together; he nipped  at Delaney’s horse, Fire Hot.

“Watch it, you good for nothing rider!”  She shouted at Lindsay.  Sorry-y!  She thought to her self.

“Oops, sorry, he is new, and  does'nt like other horses, my bad.”

She had replied instead of the countless things she'd wanted to  say.

“Yeah, right, sure you  are, and I am going to get you some day, Lindsay Moore!” She snapped.

This made Lindsay flinch with  fear.  What did she mean by  that??

And here, my friend, will the  story end.  Delaney causes fear, alas, my dear.  What  does she mean, she’s only a teen. Here is where I am gonna end  the first part of the story..
